Y’all, I really struggled trying to come up with a title that could summarize this box. It’s ALL OVER THE PLACE. I also had a hard time picking three for the box (you will never see me pay for shipping, Home Chef! NEVAR!) but I had to have a box this weekend or face starvation. Yes, I’m home alone (lol jk I have three dogs with me) so the probability of an entirely-snack dinner is high. Hence: Home Chef. Because if there is real food in the fridge that needs eating, I’ll cook. Not just if I’m hungry, or because it’s the right thing to do. No, it’s my aversion to waste that brings my butt into the kitchen. Continue reading “Home Chef Box Review: Crispy, Creamy, & Light”
Home Chef Box Review: Welcome to Sauce Town
The apocalyptic cold season of February seems to have abated. (Thank God.) I feel like I lost about 4 days, just gone, to being sick. Definitely one of those weeks where having Home Chef take care of the bulk of meal planning and shopping is ideal! I was again surprised and impressed by their predominantly meat-and-veggies options for this week’s box:

Blue Apron Box Review: Sear Dat Meat
BLUE APRON I MISSED YOU SO MUCH!!! I meal-planned myself to exhaustion during Whole30 and it was heavenly knowing that Blue Apron had me covered this week. I don’t know if I have ever looked forward to a meal delivery quite this much! Anyway, our recipes this week have one clear thing in common: putting a sear on protein. Whole30 Kale Salad with Coconut & Blueberries
Hello, January! Hello, feeling great again! We have been planning this January round of Whole30 since last September. Knowing that it was coming, we really indulged around Christmas. Cookies for breakfast, beers at noon, sure! Do it all! That was fun, and it was neat to eat and drink whatever, but boy, were we ready for January 2 to start fresh. One of the first things I wanted to make was my favorite Whole30 kale salad, a yummy fun dish with blueberries, coconut, and pepitas! Continue reading “Whole30 Kale Salad with Coconut & Blueberries”
Blue Apron Box Review: Various Winter Veggies
It’s time for our last Blue Apron of the year! Hard to believe it, but kinda glad. 2016 has sure been a beast. Anyway, we’re going all vegetarian for this last box, which features:

Blue Apron Review: Dumplings & Meatballs & Chicken — Oh my!
It’s been kind of a bonkers few weeks in our house: we were supposed to leave for Orlando last Saturday and had a wedding to attend last Friday afternoon and all kinds of evening commitments in between. The craziness peaked on Wednesday morning when in a fit of temporary election-induced insanity I canceled our trip to Orlando and instead booked a trip to Maui. Blue Apron Box Review: Comfort Food Fest
This week we got a beautifully comfort food-themed box from Blue Apron, which included:
- Crispy Chicken with Mashed Potato and Spicy Collard Greens
- Pork Meatballs with Beet and Cranberry Agrodolce
- South Indian Squash Curry
I opted in for this week’s box due to the relatively gluten-free, dairy-free nature of the selections. Continue reading “Blue Apron Box Review: Comfort Food Fest”
What are we eating?
I started meal planning about a year ago, except not really meal planning in the meal-prep, fancy-smart traditional sense. More like meal planning where I pick out recipes and try to have leftover ingredients work into other meals and make sure we have enough food for lunches but not so much that anything goes to waste. So, more like responsible survival / fuel-planning, but I’ll go ahead can call it meal planning all the same, thanks. Continue reading “What are we eating?”
